INTERNATIONAL FULL-TIME MBA
Is 2008 class the first class of FIA-International Full-Time MBA?
Yes, this is the first class of FIA-International Full-Time MBA, but the program is based on the experience of FIA’s International Executive MBA, created in 1992.
The International MBA has built on this experience to create the necessary environment to attend high potential candidates from diverse nationalities and a focus on building international career paths.
Is the course accredited in Brazil and abroad?
FIA is internationally accredited by AMBA – The Association of MBAs, with its headquarters in United Kingdom – England, and has the local accreditations by MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture).
How many students from overseas will you have in this class?
The target is to compose a class formed by a mix of Brazilian students (50%) and international students from Europe, Asia and the Americas (50%) , with 3 or more years of professional experience.
Each group is formed by up to 30 participants and all the activities will be in English.
Which criteria will be used for selection?
A commission will analyse the profiles individually, according to the following criteria:

Advanced level of English demonstrated by Toefl or other equivalent test

High potential analytic abilities, demonstrated by GMAT results (550 is the minimum score required)

Professional experience

Recommendations by sponsors, faculty or employers
Why this course is interesting for international students?
Brazil represents 50% of the South American market, and the regional headquarters of most international companies are in São Paulo. The course will give in depth knowledge of the Brazilian and South American business environment and an international cultural exposure to all participants.
The participants will have the opportunity to take an internship in a company and career placement in Brazil.
The FIA International MBA program offers highly experienced faculty, practitioners and lecturers, ranked amongst the most experienced in the world by the Financial Times, who are committed to discuss the most recent concepts and managerial theories in a practical manner to an experienced group of students from diverse backgrounds.
What kind of teaching methodology will be used in MBA Full-Time course?
The methodology includes both domestic and Harvard case studies (40%) and other participative methods. Use of Intranet for supplementary distance-learning. Individual orientation through monitoring and faculty advising.
When and where will be the classes?
Class meets at FIA Executive Education Building, from Mondays through Wednesdays, from 2:00 pm to 8:30pm, throughout 1 year, starting on September 2008.
Are there other activities offered by FIA, specially for international students?
FIA will also offers elective courses in English, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish (additional fees apply).
And there are optional international trips to South America, USA, Europe and China:
Europe: EM Lyon – European Entrepreneurial Learning and University of Cambridge – Judge Business School
China: Lingnan College – Sun Yat Sen University
USA: Owen Graduate School of Management
What are the main disciplines?
The disciplines are delivered in a logical sequence that offer to participants the opportunity to have a strategically vision of business and to develop the managerial ability. The disciplines are organized in modules:
Module 1 – Creating a leadership vision
Module 2 – Developing markets through people
Module 3 – Creating and managing value
Module 4 - International Competitiveness
Module 5 - Implementing Knowledge
Module 6 - Developing the Sustainable Organization
How are grades obtained?
By the end of each module, in-class tests are applied.
The final grade is a combination of the grades obtained in the tests and the concepts of team works and seminars.
To obtain the final certificate, the participant must be approved in all disciplines and in the final project, according to international standards.
Is there a support for international students?
As part of support structure the program offers:

How much the International MBA Full costs? And the estimated expenses for a single person?
The fee is U$ 22,000 (twenty and two a thousand dollars). This amount includes all tuition, orientation, internship search support, and class materials.
Textbooks, meals, local and international trips and hotels or extra language classes are not included.
The table below is an estimative for a single student; this could be lower by shering an apartment with other participants.

May I finance the payment? Is there any financial aid?
Payment terms may be financed based on individual needs assessment.
Financial aid is available on a merit basis for a small number of international candidates from emerging countries.
How is the selection process and what is the deadlines for 2008 class?
Phases and deadlines of the selection process are:
Phase 1 - Application analysis
Send personal information, references, GMAT and TOEFL scores until April 30th, 2008
GMAT and TOEFL scores can be sent separately by May 30 th
Phase 2 - Personal or video conference interviews
The interviews will be schedule on May or June 2008
Phase 3 - Final approval and enrolment
June-July /2008
The electronic application forms are available for download at www.fia.com.br. After the data analysis, the candidate will be invited to participate in the phase 2 of process.
According to Brazilian legislation is this MBA a “strictu sensu” master level course ?
According to Brazilian legislation this is not a “strictu sensu” master level course. This is a “lato sensu” course, as any other MBA offered in Brazil and abroad (such as in Harvard, Stanford, Insead etc), and the focus isn’t academic. It’s a course focused on the development of managerial ability and application of concepts and theories.
